Our Tree Removal Process

Removing Trees Safely

We use an organized method of removing every tree, which is focused on reducing risk while limiting impact to your property. We have successfully developed our procedure through thousands of previous jobs.

Step 1: Property Visit: Your certified arborist will come to your property and assess the tree you wish to remove and all aspects of your surroundings (structures, utility lines above the tree, and the path to access the tree). The arborist will look at any possible obstacles that could cause problems during the removal and will discuss your concerns and desires.

Step 2: Removal Strategy: Based on what was found by the arborist during their assessment, a plan for safely and efficiently removing the tree will be created. Depending on how difficult the job is to perform, a plan using a crane, rigging, etc., may also need to be created to protect your property and ensure the safe removal of the tree.

Step 3: Obtaining Permits: If your city/county requires permits prior to performing a tree removal service, we will assist with obtaining these permits and complete all required paperwork.

Step 4: Setting Up the Job Site: Before commencing the removal, we will set up designated areas where it is unsafe for people to be present (safety zones), if needed, lay down ground protection mats over your landscaping, and place our equipment to limit damage to your lawn while allowing us to efficiently and safely remove the tree.

Step 5: Systematic Dismantling: When trees are located close to buildings or other structures and in tight spaces, we systematically dismantle the tree from top to bottom. As each section is dismantled, we will rig and lower it out of harm’s way to prevent damage to your home and/or other structures.

Tree Removal Methods

Specialized Techniques for Every Situation

There are various methods for the removal of trees depending on type, location, etc. We use the most suitable method for the job at hand.

Sectional Dismantling: Sectional dismantling is a very popular method for residential tree removals, as it is the safest and most cost-effective method of removing the majority of residential trees. The process involves us climbing the tree and cutting the branches into manageable pieces that can be lowered to the ground via rope systems (and/or cranes) and our precision cutting equipment. This method is ideal for removing trees in proximity to buildings, homes, etc., with limited access and where overhead obstructions exist.

Crane-Assisted Removal: Crane-assisted removal is the safest and most efficient method of removing large trees in difficult-to-reach locations, such as those in close proximity to power lines, high-rise buildings, large commercial properties, and other complex sites. In addition to providing an elevated platform to cut the tree, cranes also enable us to lift and remove large sections of the tree over structures without the need for rigging. Therefore, crane-assisted removal greatly reduces the time required to complete a tree removal project and minimizes disruption to your business or property.

Straight Felling: Straight felling is a safe and efficient way to remove small to medium-sized trees that have sufficient clearance around them. When there is enough room to do so, this method involves the tree being removed in one piece using directional cutting techniques, which is generally used for trees located in open areas away from obstacles and structures.

Emergency Removal: Fallen trees due to storms or other weather conditions need to be removed immediately. Our emergency response team will come to your location, evaluate the area, secure any hazardous areas, and remove the dangerous trees to restore your property and give you safe access again.

Trees Once Removed

Responsible Wood Recycling and Disposal

Trees we remove are handled responsibly. We want to recycle as much of each tree as is feasible and environmentally safe.

Options for Reusing Tree Material

Firewood: When we harvest hardwood trees for firewood, we can cut them into lengths for your firewood needs or donate to individuals who heat their homes with firewood. We can also leave the firewood on your property, stacked neatly, or pick it up at your request.

Lumber and Milling: If you have a quality tree that would make good lumber (or have one that has been harvested), then there are several local sawmills that would be happy to purchase or take it from you. We can arrange to have a mobile sawmill service come to your location to mill the tree for you.

Mulching Wood Chips: All branches and small pieces of wood are chipped and used as mulch to help control weeds around plants and trees. The mulch will remain on your property for your landscaping use, or can be hauled off by us. We do not add chemicals to our mulch, so it is perfect for gardening beds and walkways.

Recycling Wood: If none of the above options work, then the wood will go to a commercial facility to be processed into industrial mulch, compost, or biomass fuel.

Proper Disposal of Trees: There are times when we are unable to recycle a tree due to a disease that could potentially cause harm to people and/or the environment. These trees will be disposed of properly according to all applicable environmental regulations.
